This is a sequel to The Sacred Cipher but can stand alone as an international mystery thriller with a rapid-fire plot that alternates between the Middle East and Washington and a few points between. When Tom Bohannon discovers a Third Temple of God hidden under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, he finds himself caught between faith and politics. Historical figures and fictional ancient characters enter the complex plot. The crux of the story centers on the true-to-life struggle for the Temple Mount, a meaningful site in Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. A rabbi in the story says, “I believe... and my Muslim friend has come to accept the possibility... that God will keep destroying the inanimate temples of men because now they are false temples. He no longer lives there nor will he ever allow his Spirit to be confined there.” Readers who enjoy the creative juxtaposition of history, religion, and geopolitics will find in Brennan’s work a feast for the senses.
