Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier

Mark Frost. Flatiron, $21.99 (160p) ISBN 978-1-250-16330-1

Twin Peaks co-creator Frost follows up 2016's The Secret History of Twin Peaks with another volume aimed at die-hard fans, this time a more straightforward account providing details about the lives of characters before and after the original TV series and the enigmatic Showtime revival. Those revelations come from case files prepared by FBI special agent Tamara Preston, the newest member of the Blue Rose Task Force, for her boss, Deputy Director Gordon Cole. They range from the relatively straightforward, such as an autopsy report of someone whose fate was left hanging at the end of the original show's second season, to the more esoteric, as with her philosophical musings about the meaning of the weird events surrounding the town of Twin Peaks. The highlight is the moving last testament left behind by the Log Lady, which was read at a memorial service in her honor. Viewers of the Showtime episodes will get some clues about one of the most tantalizing plot threads that went unresolved%E2%80%94the whereabouts of Audrey Horne%E2%80%94but Frost doesn't answer the biggest remaining questions. Fans will hope for a season four and more revelations. (Oct.)
