The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding

Victoria Alexander. Kensington/Zebra, $7.99 mass market (352p) ISBN 978-1-4201-3226-7

Alexander’s Millworth Manor crew (The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride) is in for a treat in the person of one Jackson Quincy Graham Channing, whose orderly life plan is thrown into some disarray by an unexpected family connection. Seems that Jack is the long lost—American—son of Col. Basil Channing and heir to the—British—Briston family fortune. Not that he needs the title or the money: he’s also the heir apparent to the Graham, Merryweather, and Lockwood financial empire. In England, Jack becomes acquainted with his overseas kin and meets his intellectual and romantic match in the form of Lady Theodosia Winslow. No Alexander romance is complete without her trademark droll banter, charming characters, and well-placed plot twists, and Jack and Teddy are two of her all-time finest creations. She pays far more attention to dialogue than forward movement of the plot, but Regency romance fans who are in it for the gowns and merriment will be thoroughly entertained. (Nov.)
