Blood Thinners

Novak (the Lynch Brothers series) launches her Love Me Dead paranormal series with a thin lesbian romance bolstered by a vivid supporting cast. Mina Summers will do whatever it takes earn a promotion at SHAP, the Supernatural-Human Accountability Partnership. But her father, SHAP’s director, worries for her life if she were to take a more advanced role, especially when a rogue vampire almost kills her. Now Mina must infiltrate Thinner, a celebrity weight loss company that offers bold, perhaps unnatural results and may be connected to the vampire attack. What she believes is a simple case grows complicated when she meets Thinner’s alluring v-p, Carma Nicks, the daughter of the company’s founder. Fraternizing with a mark is against the rules, but as the women begin to work almost exclusively together, Mina’s priorities become jumbled. Mina and Carma’s relationship never quite develops past one-dimensionality, but the women’s found family of best friends, ghosts, demons, and sweet old neighbors adds color and charm. Paranormal romance fans will find this worth a look. (Apr.)
