BUSINESS IS A CONTACT SPORT: Using the 12 Principles of Relationship Asset Management to Build Buy-in, Blast Away Barriers and Boost Your Business

Tom Richardson, with Tom Gorman. . Alpha, $24.95 (256pp) ISBN 978-0-02-864163-8

Understanding the authors' message is a lot harder than it needs to be. The title doesn't refer to physical contact but to communication with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. The term Relationship Asset Management means "networking." The constant sports analogies are annoying, the text is repetitive and there is little explanation of how anyone below the CEO level could implement the authors' ideas. Readers in search of a networking book would be better off consulting one of the many by Harvey MacKay. (Sept.)
