Dinosaur Cousins?

Bernard Most, Author Houghton Mifflin Harcourt P $13.95 (32p) ISBN 978-0-15-223497-3
Most has an odd and very funny idea about dinosaursan idea that kids will love. By pairing extinct and contemporary animals (triceratops and rhinoceros, brachiosaurus and giraffe, ankylosaurus and armadillo, among others) and noting their similarities (the horns of the first pair, the long necks of the second, the bony plates of armor on the third), he wonders if they might be related. The drawings are cartoony and bright, with bold black lines that convey enough details to make a convincing case for Most's curiosity. And while there are enough facts to satisfy nonfiction fans, Dinosaur Cousins? is the perfect truth-may-be-stranger-than fiction vehicle to draw readers in and get them started making their own comparisons.
