Aim High: An Olympic Decathlete's Inspiring Story

Dave Johnson of the famous ``Dave and Dan'' Reebok TV commercials, Bronze medalist of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Decathlon and strong contender for the 1994 Goodwill Games in Russia as well as the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta--that Dave Johnson--here earnestly sets down his life story and his Christian testimony. Johnson is not afraid to give credit to others when credit is due, nor is he afraid to share his own shortcomings. Moreover, he and his coauthor employ to good effect a rather intriguing device: after each chapter they have inserted a brief section--one or two pages--explaining and offering thoughts about the spiritual significance of each of the decathlon events. What is awesome (yet almost missed because this book is so unassuming) is the heroic qualities of Johnson himself who, for example, won his Olympic Bronze on a broken foot. (July)
