Patrick and Ted are the teddy bear heroes who go to the beach and meet up with Patrick's grandpa, Captain Poopdeck. The boys have a series of adventures: they search for buried treasure and find an old, gold button; they meet up with a bully who throws their inflatable sea horse out to sea; they try to buy cotton candy on the boardwalk with the treasure button; Uncle Tooth, Captain Poopdeck's old shipmate, helps them rescue their sea horse; and Captain Poopdeck (whose jacket has been missing a button) treats them to cotton candy and a ride on the ferris wheel. Typical Hayes fare, with a readable, if ordinary, story. Ages 4-6. (June)
