Hot Streak

Barkin ( Silver Flame ) trots out the poor-girl-meets-rich-boy motif in this hackneyed romance. Knockout Molly Darian, already betrothed, falls madly in love with Carey Fersten, a champion equestrian and prestigious film director. She marries her fiance as planned, but Carey often titillates her thoughts during her next 10 years in suburbia. After a bitter divorce, Molly rediscovers herself as a businesswoman and in the single parenthood of her young daughter. Then Carey reenters her life, and their reunion heats to X-rated in no time. Barkin includes well-placed details while weaving in a suspenseful sequence involving an heir to a large West German munitions-manufacturing concern, but these elements do not relieve the predictability of the dialogue and plot.
