Tracy Harmon: LV Spclst

Marion Schultz, Author Fawcett Books $3.5 (144p) ISBN 978-0-449-70325-0
In this sequel to The Girl Within , newly slim Tracy revels in her recently acquired popularity. She keeps busy dating a number of boys and writing the school paper's advice column with the help of ``Mr. X,'' her anonymous coauthor. Tracy's world seems perfect until she meets Brent, a new student who is brusque in the face of her flirtatious ways. The outcome of Tracy's feuding friendship with Brent is no more surprising than is the revelation of Mr. X's identity. Fortunately, former ugly ducklings make charming heroines: the predictable plot will matter little to readers participating in Tracy's romantic adventures. Reminiscent of the teen romances of the '50s and '60s, the old-fashioned writing style has a dated tone which, though not unappealing, seems at odds with the up-to-date details sprinkled throughout. Ages 12-up. (Nov.)
