The Tooth Fairy vs. the Easter Bunny

Jamie L.B. Deenihan, illus. by Erin Hunting. Penguin Workshop, $12.99 (32p) ISBN 978-0-593-09405-1

In this follow-up to The Tooth Fairy vs. Santa, Blue has officially earned his spot on the Toothtopia Tooth Fairy Team. When his Lost Tooth Indicator buzzes, he’s off to the house of five-year-old Veda, only to discover a note requesting a Tooth Fairy/Easter Bunny collaboration—and a challenge in the form of the ornery rabbit, who prefers to work alone. But when the Easter Bunny gets caught up in the schemes of Veda’s younger brother, he’ll have to rely on Blue and a few of Blue’s fairy friends if he wants to complete his Easter mission. The ample dialogue offers cartoon-style laughs (“Hands off the fluff, Blue,’ snarled the bunny”), and Hunting’s slick, animationlike digital illustrations pair well with Deenihan’s cinematic style. A modern Easter remix that promotes teamwork, even among creatures of legend. Ages 3–7. (Feb.)
