The Resurrection Maker

Glenn Cooper. Lascaux Media, $12.13 (336p) ISBN 978-0-692266-71-7

Dan Brown fans will find the contours of this religious thriller familiar, but Cooper tosses in a few curves. British marketing manager Arthur Malory, a descendant of the author of the medieval Arthurian epic Le Morte D’Arthur, has gained a reputation as a successful treasure hunter. Arthur is obsessed with the possibility that he could actually locate Excalibur and the Holy Grail. To Malory’s delight, a friend, Oxford professor Andrew Holmes, reveals that he has found a relevant document of “seismic” importance. But when Arthur, Andrew, and Andrew’s wife, Anne, return to the Holmes residence after a failed outing, they’re confronted by a gun-wielding burglar, who demands that the document be turned over. The ensuing violent confrontation convinces Arthur that the Grail is real, and that locating it is the only way to guarantee his safety. A striking French scientist, Claire Pontier, aids him in his search. The solid writing elevates this above some other Da Vinci Code–like suspense novels. [em](BookLife) [/em]
