Cookies! An Interactive Recipe Book

This addition to the Cook in a Book board series uses interactive elements to show very young readers the steps involved in cookie making. Nieminen’s mixed-media graphics lay out ingredients and required measurements. The preparation occurs through hands-on interactive elements: a tab makes eggs crack into the bowl; a wheel shows the dough mixing; and another tab allows readers to pull a cookie tray from an oven. Finally, the cookies are ready (two cookies can be removed from die-cut spaces). The satisfying tactile experience mimics the real process of baking cookies—which readers are likely to crave after reading. Ages 2–4. [em](Oct.) [/em]
