Seven Years to Sin
Sylvia Day. Kensington, $14 trade paper (304p) ISBN 978-0-7582-3174-1
Lady Jessica Sheffield has seven years and more than 300 pages to sin, and sin she does, with great enthusiasm and in considerable detail, in this erotic Regency. Shortly before her wedding, Jess sees rakehell Alistair Caulfield performing unspeakable but delicious acts with a more than willing lady. She undergoes a sexual awakening, transfers that interest to her husband, and enjoys a happy seven-year marriage until she's left a childless widow. In the meantime, Alistair has reformed and built a shipping company. When Jess decides to inspect her inherited Caribbean property, Alistair manages to get her on board one of his ships, and the two steam up the entire Atlantic Ocean. Day creates sympathetic characters and skillfully weaves in some intense subplots about Jess's abusive childhood and her sister's violent husband. The main interest, though, lies in the extensive and graphic love scenes. (Sept.)
