The Origami Home: More than 30 Projects to Craft, Fold, and Create

Mark Bolitho. Running Press, $22 paper (152p) ISBN 978-0-7624-5420-4

To be clear, this beautiful book does not teach a method for making actual folded-paper works for each area of the home, but instead revives the Japanese and Korean tradition of miniature furniture models, which is often overlooked by enthusiasts from other countries. Bolitho, a 35-year origami hobbyist who is chair of the British Origami Society, leaves no corner uncreased, leading the reader on a romp through all areas of the average household, from living room to loft to kitchen. Settees and toilet seats share crafted space with beds, pillows, a bookcase, and a friendly family dog on the terrace. Folding instructions are included for each piece along with the significant bonus of a stack of paper behind the back flap. Each piece corresponds to one of the book’s easy-to-make patterns. Since no trip to the craft store is needed, even novices should be able to sit back and fold an easy chair for a cozy addition to their paper lairs. [em](Mar.) [/em]
