A Case of Puppy Love

Dog lovers with a taste for genre romance may find a passable diversion in Schwartz's latest. Things are going great for Terri Bookman: she runs a successful dog bakery and pet accessories shop, is an animal rescue volunteer, and the loving owner of two easily excitable dogs. And she's just met handsome, pet-loving Carter Morris. Then the evil, dog-hating landlord of her shop hands her an eviction notice, prompting Terri to begin a campaign to save her store while her romance with Carter blossoms—but can their relationship last once Terri learns that Carter is involved with the very company evicting her from her store? Schwartz (A Sweet Deceit) makes no bones about this being long on cute and short on substance; there's more pet care than plot, and it's tough to get your dander up about the conflict the whisker-thin characters encounter.
