Remember Love/To Love Again

Stacey Dennis, S. Dennis. Zebra, $4.5 (0pp) ISBN 978-0-8217-3993-8

A year after her husband's death, 51-year-old Laura Kinsey is ready to meet the future head on and get a job when her grown children start returning to the nest with their lives in disarray. Vicki, not wanting to relocate when her husband is transferred, moves in with her three children and an attitude problem. Then Greg comes home because he's been charged with medical malpractice. He decamps just in time to make room for younger sister Valerie, who returns from college because she's pregnant and her boyfriend has abandoned her. Still, Laura manages to earn a real estate agent's license and be courted by Steve Walker, a high school sweetheart who has resurfaced after 33 years. Steve and Laura get along splendidly, except that he's determined to get married and she'd like to remain independent, at least for a while. Toss in difficulties with Steve's son and Laura's sister-in-law--and it's like being seated at a dinner next to someone determined to describe all her friends' problems in detail. Readers will end up snoozing face down in the salad. Dennis is a pseudonymous first novelist. (Dec.)
