Angela Biwaban (last seen in Corona Blue) the Native American (Anishinabe) princess whose good intentions often land her on the wrong side of the law, finds herself paroled to a work-release job as a secretary in a Pierre, S. Dak., law firm. Unfortunately, she's laboring under the eye of Sarah Sutton, whose management style, says Angie, ``consists of planting her dainty shoeprint on everybody's ass.'' Angie accompanies Sarah on business to Colorado where they learn that Sarah's mother, Madge Rooley, has died in a driving accident that Angie has reason to believe was no accident. Suspecting also that her boss (whom she's beginning to like a bit) may be in danger, Angie summons her Native American grandfather to the Rockies where the two of them poke around the colorful Rooley family history, which includes a link to Butch Cassidy and Madge's own achievements in the field of armed robbery. Employing an impressive array of skills, some of which could land her back in jail, Angie blazes a trail through rumors of buried treasure, kidnapping and land claims. Readers who can suspend their disbelief will likely find the versatile, wisecracking Angie as entertaining as a traveling circus. (Nov.)
