Dearest Mother, Dearest Friend

The Christy miniseries that will air on PAX-TV May 13 and 14 coincides with Mother's Day and that timing is no accident. Catherine Marshall, who wrote the bestselling novel Christy, based it on her own mother's experiences as a missionary teacher in Appalachia. In April, J. Countryman releases Dearest Mother, Dearest Friend: Inspiration from the Journals and Letters of Catherine Marshall, a beautifully designed gift book about Marshall's relationship with that plucky mother hen, Leonora Wood. The reminiscences are drawn from private correspondence as well as published anecdotes, and serve as a worthy tribute to both women.
