The newly launched My Romance series relies on the gimmick of soap opera stars reading from genre romance fiction. Newman and Zimmer, both from TV's Guiding Light, trade off performance duties with nimble aplomb in this gothic tale. Newman, providing general narration and male character roles, delivers the requisite huskiness, connoting a ferocity of passion. Zimmer as the female protagonist is pert and innocent, able to produce fiery excitement when called for. Her Katherine ""Kit"" Downing is a strong-willed young woman living in 18th-century Oxford, Mass., who is being stalked by a werewolf, hungry with a ""bloodlust"" for her virginal womanhood. Could the creature be the alter-ego of a handsome local gentleman? Is he tormenting her because of a long-standing family curse? Can she save herself by calling upon the dark forces of witchcraft? These questions are soon answered in an audio drama that is carried off with just the right amount of whimsy by actors who seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves. (Aug.)
