Easter Elf

Rochelle Ann Groskreutz, illus. by Leah DiPasquale. KWiL Publishing, $16.99 (40p) ISBN 978-0-9991437-7-3

Elves don’t only show themselves around Christmastime in Groskreutz’s goofy holiday mash-up. The Easter Elf has blue hair, big glasses, and wears bunny ears and slippers. The spunky figure laments that Easter Elves never get any credit for their responsibilities, which include basket weaving, grass shredding, egg hiding, and hopping. After the surprise crash arrival of a Christmas Elf (in a quintessential red and green outfit) upends the Easter Elf training, the visitor irks Easter Elf by acing the training tasks, even putting a Christmastime twist on her designs. But Easter Elf discovers the other elf’s Achilles heel—she hates eggs. While frenzied back-and-forth texting with Santa Claus muddies the circumstances, readers will have fun with the mixing of holidays and the candy-colored cartoon elves. Ages 3–8. [em](Mar.) [/em]
