Love Struck

Laurelin McGee. St. Martin’s, $7.99 mass market (336p) ISBN 978-1-250-05919-2

Boston musician Lacy Dawson is still reeling a year after her fiancé’s death. She has found solace and friendship with an online group for musicians, where she hangs out with a fellow called Folx. Eli is one of the lead singers of the Blue Hills band. He spends his time online chatting with LoveCoda, aka Lacy. When Lacy joins the Blue Hills, she and Eli seem destined to be together—except for a case of mistaken identity involving Jax, the other lead man in the band. As Lacy tries to sort out who’s behind the Folx handle, Eli struggles with his feelings for both Lacy and LoveCoda, not realizing they’re one and the same. The plot is slowed by info-dumping dialogue and some overemphasis on past events that have led to the protagonists’ emotional obstacles, but it eventually finds its rhythm. Twists keep the heartwarming story moving, and the sex scenes become more sensual as the relationships become richer. Agent: Bob Diforio, D4EO Literary Agent. (Feb.)
