Wiggles

This addition to the TouchThinkLearn series of chunky, hands-on board books invites readers to trace shallow die-cut lines and shapes along the pages, by following lively and gently encouraging instructions: “Right finger takes the pink. Up, down. Up, down. Up, down! Fast, faster, wheeee!” Zucchelli-Romer suggests that small, die-cut circles are raindrops (“Pitter Patter Pitter Patter”) and by tracing swooshing lines with their fingers, readers can “ride the waves.” More complex die-cuts include swirling, bulls-eye patterns and free-form squiggles that beckon readers to “dance with your fingers.” Baby-blue background pages and fluorescent pink, yellow, and green offer high contrast, while the kinetic design encourages readers to practice hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and to develop rhythm sense.
