The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook: Over 300 Delicious Whole Foods Recipes, Including Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, and Egg-Free Dishes

Alissa Segersten and Tom Malterre. Grand Central, $24 (464p) ISBN 978-1-4555-8189-4

In their first cookbook, Segersten (who runs www.nourishingmeals.com) and nutritionist Malterre tackle the issue of healthy eating. For the authors, this is no fad—their diet is a way of life. They start the book with a section on what it means to live with “whole life nutrition” and another about why one should partake in it, showing home cooks how they can easily incorporate healthier approaches to cooking. The hundreds of recipes provide an easy to answer the question, “If you remove so many things (like gluten, eggs, dairy, etc.) from your diet, what can you eat?” If you want those things, though, there are recipes for them as well. From simpler recipes like garlic kale kraut and tofu scramble to the a fish tacos with tomato-peach salsa, there are plenty of recipes in this cookbook that pack a powerful punch. [em](June) [/em]
