James (Restoration) opens her Madison Kate series with a dark new adult romance. After teen Madison Kate Danvers is blamed for a deadly riot at an abandoned amusement part on Halloween, she’s kicked out of school, her acceptances to Ivy League colleges are rescinded, and her wealthy father exiles her to Cambodia to finish high school via correspondence courses—despite the fact that she was framed and the attack was evidently aimed to kill her. When she returns to town for college, she finds three men living in her apathetic father’s mansion: Archer D’Ath, the son of her father’s fiancé, and his MMA fighter friends Kodiak Jones and Max Steele—the same guys Madison Kate blames for setting her up. Despite being ridiculously attracted to all three, Madison Kate is determined to get revenge. The men, meanwhile, prove unexpectedly protective of her—especially after she learns she has a stalker. James leaves things off on a frustrating cliffhanger, with many of the characters’ lives in peril. Still, the zigzagging plot, hunky heroes, and feisty heroine are sure to have readers coming back for more. (Feb.)
