Golding (Order Up) launches her Moto Grand Prix series with a satisfying second-chance romance between two motorcycle racers. Fresh off a championship win in Valencia, Spain, Superbike racer Billy King eagerly returns to Memphis, Tenn., to beg forgiveness from his ex-girlfriend, Taryn Ledell, a fellow Superbike star and barrel racer. But Taryn’s not ready to hear his apology. In flashbacks to their early courtship, Golding makes a strong case for Billy and Taryn’s chemistry—showing readers that Taryn was initially drawn to Billy’s humility and chivalry—and deliciously draws out the tension leading up to their mysterious, relationship-ending fight. Meanwhile in the present, Taryn realizes that Billy is injured and hiding the severity of the issue from his strict manager, and harangues him into letting her monitor his healing. The colorful supporting cast adds complexity and hints at more good things from the series to come. Though the timeline can become a bit convoluted, the crisp prose, steamy sex scenes, and swift plotting combine into a diverting love story. Readers will look forward to the next in the series. Agent: Kelly Peterson, Corvisiero. (Aug.)
