Tummy Revolution 21: Gut Health Made Simple

Sara Chadwick. Tummy Revolution, $9.99 e-book (234p) ISBN 978-1-5272-2972-3

Chadwick (along with her Tummy Revolution blog team of dietician Debra Thomas and yoga instructor Kerry Morgan) offers a solid though familiar collection of recipes intended to promote a healthy gut. Chadwick uses a three-step approach: elimination (avoiding all foods proven to cause bloating, gas, cramps, and diarrhea), challenge (gradually reintroducing the eliminated foods to determine ones without side affects), and personalization (devising a customized diet based on the findings). She suggests tips for making certain meals ahead of time and freezing for later use, such as muffins, Swedish meatballs, and tomato soup. Though most of the dishes are unremarkable (toast with cinnamon, sugar and bananas; basic bruschetta; roasted chicken; Greek pasta salad), there are occasional bright spots like salmon tacos with citrus salsa, and riffs on jam jar salads (to take to work) such as one with roasted pumpkin and feta. None of the recipes contain nutritional information, though they do offer estimates on level of difficulty and prep time. The dishes come together quickly and are well within the abilities of even the most novice of cooks. This is a fine choice for those wanting to improve their eating habits, but those wanting more gut-health information would do better to look elsewhere. [em](BookLife) [/em]
