In a dangerous future where humans struggle to survive, monsters control the remains of the human world, sorcery and mythology run rampant, and high-tech, anthropomorphic bounty hunters fight for what's left of humanity. This work proves that these familiar elements can add up to fun in the hands of an imaginative creator. An action sitcom based on the popular anime series, this volume features as its star one Natsuki, an adorable cop/bounty hunter cat-girl whose sweet innocence belies her startling swordsmanship skills. The supporting cast of very amusing monsters includes porn-addicted werewolf Batanen, who lusts after his feline co-worker, and Sakura, a nine-tailed fox (or kitsune, a staple of Japanese mythology), whose ninth tail hasn't grown in yet. Sakura senses great magical power in Natsuki that can bring about Sakura's own potential-provided Sakura eats Natsuki. To get close to her ultimate power lunch, Sakura joins the police force and the series kicks into a farcical high gear, replete with narrow escapes and the threat of monster-related mayhem around every corner. While this story offers nothing new, Mee's art is tight and appealing, and the fast-moving tale will keep readers entertained.
