Deal Master

Adam Gittlin. Oceanview (Midpoint, dist.), $27.95 (400p) ISBN 978-1-60809-180-5

At the outset of Gittlin’s racy, fast-paced third Jonah Gray novel (after 2014’s The Deal: About Face), power broker Jonah is enjoying his fame as the head of one of the hottest boutique real estate firms in Manhattan. But all is not well. Perry York, his business partner and the love of his life, is slipping into a world of alcohol and pills, and Jonah is suffering unbearable guilt for the trauma he put Perry through while they were on the run in Europe in the previous book. To add to their woes, a security guard is found dead (possibly murdered) in one of their buildings, and a security breach threatens to cost them a major client. Worst of all, European commercial real estate mogul Cobus de Bont, “one of the most corrupt, wanted men on the planet” to whom Jonah owes a lot, demands that Jonah and Perry acquire some properties for him. The plot takes some unexpected turns before reaching the satisfying if open-ended conclusion. [em]Agent: Susan Gleason, Susan Gleason Literary Agency. (May) [/em]
