Another June with You: A Second Chance Romance

This serviceable romance from Noorman (Bittersweet), the opening book in a new McGregor Family series, finds photographer Shannon McGregor confronted with buried emotions at a wedding in her hometown. Shannon banks her slight reputation as a photographer on a large wedding for a former classmate in the small Michigan town where they both grew up. But when car trouble threatens to keep her from getting there, the bride sends the best man to help out. Shannon’s rescuer turns out to be her high school crush, Micah, whom she broke up with 10 years before, though she’s regretted it ever since. Both are devout Christians, and Shannon seeing him makes her miss the comfort their mutual faith and familiar past once provided. Though she can sense a mutual attraction as he escorts her back to the wedding, Shannon is deflated when she discovers Micah already has a date, Autumn. With the bride determined to reunite the former couple (despite Autumn’s presence), Micah’s competing desires and a dark secret Shannon’s been keeping threaten to derail the picture perfect wedding. While the setup is intriguing and the writing proficient, the hastily drawn characters and formulaic plot fail to lead to a satisfying conclusion . (BookLife)
