Bathtime for Little Rabbit

Jörg Mühle, trans. from the German by Catherine Chidgey. Gecko Press USA (Lerner, dist.), $9.99 (20p) ISBN 978-1-77657-137-6

Little Rabbit, previously seen in Tickle My Ears (2016), returns in a second interactive board book, which enlists readers’ help as he takes a bath. “Can you put some shampoo on him?” asks Mühle; later, children wipe water from the rabbit’s nose, rub him dry, and blow as hard as they can to dry his ears (the hair dryer is broken). Solid-colored backdrops keep all of the focus on Mühle’s fluffy white hero, and the routines and reassurances offered in the text (“That wasn’t so bad, was it?”) present bath time as something to be enjoyed, not endured. Ages 1–2. (Aug.)
