Life on Earth: Farm
Heather Alexander, illus. by Andrés Lozano. Wide Eyed Editions, $12.99 (16p) ISBN 978-1-84780-905-6
This busy question-and-answer book introduces aspects of living and working on a farm, including how bread is made, how a cow’s milk becomes ice cream, and the ways a farm changes as seasons pass. Spanish illustrator Lozano’s scenes of animals, farmers, and produce are dotted with rectangular text and image boxes, which lift to reveal answers to questions asked of readers: “What is the farmer’s next smelly job?” asks one as a boy holds his nose. “The farmer has to clean the dirty pigpen.” Children won’t need to get their hands dirty during this trip to the farm, though the flaps will keep them plenty busy. Also available: Human Body. Ages 3–6. (Mar.)
