Gladyss of the Hunt

In this lame serial killer yarn set in New York City in 2003, from Nersesian (Mesopotamia), someone is butchering tall blonde women and arranging their body parts in odd ways. After the discovery of the killer’s third known victim (“It looked as if she’d died in the Happy Baby yoga pose”), rookie police officer Gladyss Chronou, who matches the victims’ profile, agrees to take a temporary assignment in homicide. She quickly identifies a suspect, film star Noel Holden, largely based on his proximity to the crime scene and interest in serial murderers. Neither Gladyss’s belief that her yoga gives her special insights into the case, nor explicit details about her sex life, enliven the routine police proceedings. Some may wonder why Gladyss concludes that an Indian-American she meets doesn’t practice yoga because of his “Westernized demeanor,” even though that doesn’t disqualify her.
