J.A. Belfield. J. Taylor (www.jtaylorpublishing.com), $15.99 trade paper (350p) ISBN 978-1-937744-26-7

The adventures of the Shropshire werewolves continue in the third Holloway Pack installment, focusing on tough guy Ethan. The pack’s already on alert when local were teen Gabriel Lewis is reported missing. Ethan is a mentor to the boy and also smitten by Gabe’s mother, Shelley, so he’s determined to find and rescue him. Ethan’s father, pack leader Nathan, thinks another supernatural race is behind the disappearances of weres, witches, and others in the area. While pursuing a lead, Ethan and pack member Kyle have a near-fatal encounter with vampires and then are taken captive themselves. Solid original preternatural mythology, a nice sensibility of the weres’ canine natures, and stimulating sex scenes between Ethan and Shelley will help increase Belfield’s audience, but the action plot payoff doesn’t quite deliver.
