Finding Theo: A Father’s True Story of Loss, Courage, and Discovery

Krause delivers a stirring account of his son Theo’s severe spinal injury and recovery. On Sept. 17, 2013, just a few weeks after he turned 25, Theo Krause was mountain biking in Crested Butte, Colo., when he lost control of his bike and launched headfirst into a tree. After being evacuated to a hospital by helicopter, Theo was told his neck was broken, he needed immediate surgery, and he probably would not walk again. In candid prose, Krause recounts his son’s struggle to walk, as well as Krause’s and his wife’s feelings of helplessness as parents.
