A physiotherapist, whose life has fallen apart, collects the people from his past at a strange artist's colony in the Utah desert in an effort to achieve inner peace. PW concluded that ``this narrative has equal power to enchant and to annoy readers'' but allowed that it ``makes a memorable impact.'' (October)
