Another collaboration between Cucullu (Inside Gitmo), who fought in Vietnam and El Salvador and had been embedded in Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010, and researcher Fontana, the volume focuses on a seldom-highlighted segment of the U.S. armed forces%E2%80%94the military police. As described by the authors, the group compromises "infantry and cops, destroyers and builders, eliminators and facilitators." Col. David Phillips was at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, and sent to Kuwait in early 2003. Col. David Quantock had to address the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. 1st Lieut. Alvin Shell risked his own life to save others in Iraq. Despite Cucullu and Fontana's strident efforts, the overall narrative proves difficult to follow. (Sept.)
