Mi Dedo Menique
Betsy Franco-Feeney. Children's Press(CT), $4.95 (32pp) ISBN 978-0-516-26318-2
PreS-Gr 2-In this easy reader, a boy marvels at how much he has grown. It all begins when he notices how much larger his pinkie finger has gotten. Using different points of comparison, he revels in his own body's magic. He measures himself in relation to his little sister. He observes the ascending marks on his growth chart by the doorframe. He reviews the clothing that no longer fits and how much stronger he feels. Although the text is simple, there are one or two instances of awkwardly translated phrases. The illustrations are bright and bold and show an active, happy youngster engaged in childlike activities. As with all ""Rookie"" titles, there is a vocabulary list on the last page. Recommended for school libraries and bookstores serving early readers. M.O.B.
