Nana Loves You More

Jimmy Fallon, illus. by Miguel Ordóñez. Macmillan/Feiwel and Friends, $17.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-25-082394-6

Fallon and Ordóñez’s latest family-oriented collaboration salutes grandmothers’ boundless, selfless love. The book’s starring duo, near carbon copies of one another, are highly stylized creatures with panda-like markings and sweet smiles. Most of the book’s rhyming, greeting-card-like lines explore the “more” of the title, starting with “You’ll always love NANA,/ but NANA loves YOU more.” Attending alternatingly realistic and fanciful vignettes portrayed in blocky art, grandchild and grandma express intergenerational affection with simple call-and-response rhymes. “More than rainbows?/ More than dreams?” the cub asks. “More than three scoops/ of your favorite ice cream!” says Nana, holding up a triple-scoop cone. With bright colors, simple shapes, and a singsong beat, it’s a volume tailor-made for toddler snuggling. Ages 1–3. (Mar.)
