The Floating World

In this reimagining of the Korean legend of Celestial Maidens, Oh (ASAP) weaves a tale of two star crossed teens whose destinies grow more and more intertwined as a cataclysmic threats loom. Sunho lives in the Under World, a land of darkness and shady activity. A former soldier with no memory of his past save for a fleeting recollection of his brother, Sunho works odd jobs while searching for his sibling. Across the land in an idyllic mountain village, Ren lives with her adoptive family and finds joy in performing with her acrobatic troupe. When her village is attacked by a demon, Ren uncovers a heretofore unknown secret power that allows her to kill the monster—but not before it inflicts mortal damage on her loved ones. Seeking a cure, Ren sets off to uncover the demon’s origins. Unbeknownst to her, however, assassins are hunting her down—including Sunho. In the vein of Shadow and Bone and Final Fantasy, Oh delivers whirlwind romance and adrenaline-fueled adventure culminating in a darkly mysterious fantasy series starter. Ages 13–up. (Apr.)
