Thomas (The Kitchy Kitchen blog host) shows cooks how to take command of their kitchen with 150 stylish, bubbly recipes. From offering advice on shopping at the farmer’s market to pantry organization, Thomas hopes to “take your cupboards from meh to amazing.” There’s a glossary of cooking terms, instructions how to chop, and an chart of 20 combinations to help plan meals. Breakfast dishes include tarts of rosemary, potato, and kale, a cherry-tomato tart and multiple egg dishes. She includes comforting soups, such as a homey minestrone along, a spicy pho, and a green gazpacho. Thomas is big on rustic pasta, and salads feature farro with roasted squash, and pomegranate and shaved Brussel sprouts topped with a creamy poached egg. Pies, puddings, puffs, and compotes are plentiful: recipe names like Boy Bait Pudding, Boyfriend Sauce, and Bachelor Pasta create a collection of girls-just-wanna-have-fun dishes designed for entertaining. Party cocktails and menus for Girls’ Movie Night, Ladies’ Brunch, Beach Picnic, and Derby Day Party show hostesses how to cook and still have fun at the party.[em] (Aug.) [/em]
