Into the Sound

This spellbinding psychological thriller from Reinard (Sweet Water) focuses on two emotionally damaged women, sisters Holly and Vivian, whose mother used them as test subjects when they were children for her psychology research. One stormy night, Vivian calls Molly from Bay Shore, Long Island, in a panic. As Vivian cries, “There’s somebody coming,” the line goes dead. Holly rushes to the scene only to find her sister’s unlocked car parked near the ocean and Vivian’s broken bracelet lying outside it. The two police detectives assigned to the case assume Vivian killed herself. When the detectives show little interest in investigating further, Holly determines to find her sister on her own. Reading Vivian’s journals and their mother’s diaries helps Holly uncover several secrets that greatly affected the sisters’ lives. The stakes rise after Holly’s house is broken into, and she realizes she’s in serious danger. Reinard keeps the suspense high through to the surprise ending.
