Turkey’s Eggcellent Easter

Wendi Silvano, illus. by Lee Harper. Two Lions, $17.99 (40p) ISBN 978-1-5420-4037-2

The star of the Turkey Trouble series returns for an Easter celebration. Intrigued by the possibility of “an eggstraspecial prize!,” Turkey and his barnyard friends sneak into an Easter egg hunt. While friends Cow, Rooster, and Sheep wear incognito shades and black neckties, Turkey pulls together a makeshift bunny costume (“No one will notice an extra rabbit hopping around”), using leaves for ears and Sheep’s sheared pompadour for a bushy tail. But finding eggs means donning new disguises—including that of a daffodil, a bumblebee, and an egg. Readers will get a kick out of the extremes Turkey goes to in order to blend in with his surroundings—and how it actually pays off. Ages 3–7. [em](Jan.) [/em]
