In this collection of translated French comics, three characters descended from mythological figures must combat Evil, a malleable entity that wreaks havoc as it assumes various incarnations after being freed by a Mars mission. With slight variations, each entry in the collection of standalone tales follows the same bare-bones plot: Yuko of Japan, Amir of Egypt, and Abigail of Germany are introduced and mysteriously manifest a mark on their body (e.g., the Eye of Horus) before discovering their respective lineages—as descendants of Raijin, Horus, and Freya—and conflicting with Evil manifesting as Fuijin, Seth, and Loki. Though this repetition lessens the stories’ impact, detailed, sometimes claustrophobic artwork makes each location distinct, providing variety. Ages 8–12. [em](Mar.) [/em]
