Baby, It’s Cold Outside

HelenKay Dimon. Samhain, $4.50 e-book (161p) ISBN 978-1-61922-042-3

Sparks fly the instant that executive assistant Thea Marshall meets her new boss, construction company president Lincoln Campbell. After months of tension, the two succumb to a forbidden night of passion. The next day, a v-p finds evidence implicating Thea in corporate espionage, and Linc fires her. Thea’s outraged that Linc didn’t trust her enough to believe she was innocent, but her own behavior gave cause for suspicion. Linc is a master at bedroom games, but those moments feel scripted and haphazard, rather than a natural progression of events. Thea is a cardboard cutout from start to finish, and it’s never quite clear what Linc sees in her. Watching Linc untangle his feelings of desire, betrayal, and love is the saving grace for this rushed and sloppy romance. (Mar.)
