All or Nothing at All

Jennifer Probst. Gallery, $16 trade paper (384p) ISBN 978-1-5011-2429-7

The enjoyable third in Probst’s Billionaire Builders series (after Any Time, Any Place) is Property Brothers meets small-town sexy with a twist of sweet. Tristan Pierce left his tiny hometown after a fallout with his father, not aware that his girlfriend, Sydney Greene-Seymour, was pregnant. Sydney, who’s now the CFO at Pierce Brothers, the family building firm, loved Tristan deeply but refused to trap him in Harrington. When Tristan returns to Harrington seven years later, after his father’s death, he at first tries to ignore the still-crackling chemistry between him and Sydney. After that fails, the two rekindle their relationship. But when Tristan learns that he’s Becca’s father, he struggles to trust Sydney again. Probst’s expert characterization is especially evident in Tristan’s tenderness with energetic, charming Becca both before and after he learns she’s his daughter, and in Sydney’s regret over not telling Tristan sooner, elevating the sometimes hackneyed secret-baby plot. Series fans will be sorry to say farewell to the three Pierce brothers and the women who love them. (July)
