Forever in Cape May

Jennifer Probst. Montlake, $12.95 trade paper (284p) ISBN 978-1-5420-1785-5

Probst wraps up her Sunshine Sisters trilogy (after Temptation on Ocean Drive) with this enchanting romance. Taylor Sunshine and Pierce Powers have been best friends since their teenage years and have vowed never to hook up, not wanting to ruin the friendship. But after a night of truth-or-dare–induced drinking, the pair fall into bed and end up having the best sex either has ever experienced. Pierce has long loved Taylor in secret, but Taylor’s finally on the verge of achieving her dream of moving to Paris to work as an artist and he doesn’t want to hold her back. Taylor, meanwhile, convinces herself that Pierce will never leave their hometown of Cape May, N.J. Some truly sidesplitting moments (one involving Pierce, a bachelorette party, and men’s underwear is especially hilarious) make up for the inevitable communication deficits between Pierce and Taylor, as both struggle to be truthful with themselves and each other about what they want long-term. Probst’s entertaining take on the friends-to-lovers trope hits all the right beats, enhanced by well-shaded characters readers will immediately love. This irresistible finale does not disappoint.
