Eric Blehm, read by Paul Michael. Christianaudio, unabridged, eight CDs, 10.25 hrs., $24.98 ISBN 978-1-61045-481-0

In March 2010, SEAL Team Six operator Adam Brown was killed in Afghanistan while diverting enemy fire away from the members of his unit. Blehm traces Brown's nomadic upbringing, during which the values that would serve him as a SEAL were established. But Brown was also a wild child, and eventually his exploits landed him in jail. At rock bottom, he decided to become a Navy SEAL. Paul Michael, whose crisp, everyman delivery and slight Southern accent, would seem the ideal narrator for this audio edition. However, his narration is one note, barely differing from dramatic moments to purely expository passages. By the time Michael reads: "The SEALS were ready to breach the gates of the two compounds when a startled farm animal made a noise and alerted one compound's militants, who came out of their rooms and began firing blindly into the night," listeners will have likely tuned out. A WaterBrook hardcover. (May)
