Monday News, Giveaways and HNSJune 15, 2009
I am asking if you would please include a kind note of thanks to the authors at this event for their generosity, since they ALL read your blog! And to please pass along that no matter where you reside, there is a library that needs book donations. I know authors don't make money off library book check outs, but believe me after working in a library for nearly 15 years, they DO get new readers who DO become buyers. Unfortunately, some libraries are still manned by stuffy, sensible shoed "old school" librarians who may not accept some donations, but don't let them discourage you, there are so many other libraries that would stand in line for those donations. Most libraries are eager to have donations, to have authors volunteer for booksignings, or workshops. The best part! We are non-profits and all donations are entirely TAX DEDUCTABLE. I figure that should help the old stimulus program.
Again, thanks to all the authors who donated. And thank you Barbara for giving me a forum to say thanks!

In response to: Monday News, Giveaways and HNS Marcia James commented: Thanks for mentioning Patricia Sargeant's Novel Hearts blog! I had the opportunity to be interviewed for this blog, which shows the many ways that romance authors give back to their communities and beyond. I love reading the interviews to learn more about author friends and the causes they support.

In response to: Monday News, Giveaways and HNS Minnette commented: Wanted to pass along my recommendations to anyone living in Oregon that the NW Book Festival is going to be a blast and everyone should come. We've got some great authors and just about any genre you can think of, but romance will be very well represented with about 8 or 9 invading en mass. It's going to be a lot of fun. Ok, plug over...love the blog today. The video is hysterical. I would absolutely go to that book signing. :)

In response to: Monday News, Giveaways and HNS Paty Jager commented: Barbara, fun interesting info! I'm one of the 40+ authors who will be at the NW Book Festival. There will be authors of every genre and presentations every fifteen minutes by the authors. I'll be speaking at 11 am about researching for a western.

In response to: Monday News, Giveaways and HNS Genene Valleau commented: Thanks for the plug about the NW Book Festival in Oregon. It is shaping up to be a wonderful event! I'll also be one of the authors speaking. My topic is rock stars as heroes and, if I was really brave, would take a tip from the video of C.W. Gortner and dress up as a rock star to get into character for my presentation. But perhaps the Northwest isn't ready for me in spandex and rhinestones!

It would have been even cooler if I'd been able to make the ceremony. My sone graduated from high school that weekend. What can I say?
