Final Thoughts on ThrillerFest

Larry and Kat Martin

Authors Larry and Kat Martin snuggle up

I have to say that ThrillerFest was one of the classiest conferences I've ever been to (but keep in mind that I'm just off the Romantic Times Booklovers convention).  No faery balls here (not that there's anything wrong with that).   If you haven't already done so, go back and read about it.  The Drive By Videos™ are worth the 30 seconds it takes to watch them.

Anyone who goes to any of these events knows how much talking is done and I wish I could have included you in some of the conversations, but there just isn't enough space on a blog.  Facinating people with a wealth of ideas, information and inspiration.  Every story is unique, but common thread is the love of the written word.  And isn't that why we're all here.

AuthorCarla Neggers, Linda McFall and Valerie Gray, both editors at MIRA BOOKS, and author Rick Mofina.

So, here's some more pictures and Drive By Videos™ that I wanted to share. They will be posted later today by PW.

I do have a couple of very special videos I did with author Brad Thor (who's simply amazing), but I am technically challenged and I messed something up.  So, as soon as I get some professional help, I'll post those.

Authors C.J. Lyons and Harlan Coben (my daughter in law's favorite author)

Some notables I didn't get pictures of were R. L. Stine of Goosebumps fame, James Patterson, and Steve Martini.  I did a Drive By Video™ of Kathy Reichs and her daugher, Kerry, but it didn't turn out and they had to move on to another interview.  Rats!!

Just remember that I get as star struck as the rest of you.

I did get to catch up with author F. Paul Wilson.  I met Paul a few years ago at Love is Murder in Chicago after I read on his website that he'd be there (I'm a big fan of his Repairman Jack books).  Anyway, I had my picture taken with him when I was at my largest and through the years, as I've lost the weight, I've seen Paul at various events.  He didn't know it, but my pics with him have documented my weight loss.  I'll have to get them together and show him one of these days.

Next week I'm off to San Diego and Comic Con, so stop me if you see me (I won't be in costume) and the following week I'll be covering theRomance Writers of America conference (RWA) in San Francisco.  Lots of photo ops there.

Then on August 4th I'll be at Sherrilyn Kenyon's Launch Party for Acheron.  This will be held at the Parthenon in Nashville and is free if you want to stop by.  This promises to be a wild and crazy time because her minions are incredibly delightful and I'm sure more than one will come in costume.

At the end of August I'll be in New Orleans for Heather Graham's Writer's for New Orleans and they have quite the line up of authors scheduled.

So, I'll have lots for you to read about and maybe think of attending a conference or two yourself next year.  Remember to stop by later today when the Drive By Videos™ are posted.

Bottom Line:  I've heard you can buy disposible underwear and that may be a thought for all these back to back conferences...or there's always commando...ewww.

Wow Thrillerfest sounds like it was awesome! I'm glad you had such a good time and are such an awesome blogger that I can live vicariously through you... sigh One day you're going to need a side kick and I'm so volunteering now! Have fun at Comic Con. Oh and I'll definitely see you at Sherrilyn Kenyon's Launch Party. I'll be in costume because I can't pass up an opportunity to dress in costume. Good times! And it figures you'll be at my back door for Heather Graham's Conference and I'll be gone to Atlanta. Oh well have fun and eat lots of good food.

I'm looking forward to your videos at RWA. Those should be tons of fun!! Just have to find Free Wi-Fi to watch. Watching the budget and the Marriott wants a lot of money for net access.

Hi Barb, It was great to see you at Thriller Fest. And the drive-by video you did of us was fabulous--though Mike said his beard looked too gray. I told him that wasn't your fault. Hugs to you, Kathleen O'Neal Gear

Barbara, thanks for the posts. What memories. I'm one of the ITW Debuts Authors and got to be on a panel with Roy and Iris Johansen, Hank Phillippi Ryan, Jill Gregory, Karen Rose, and our wonderful moderator Joan Johnson. How wonderful was that!!! Thrillerfest surpassed all my expectations, such a classy event. Love the drive-by's.
